In the smart residential neighbourhood where Hermann Hesse lived, 2 km from down town Lugano, the Villa Principe Leopoldo, with the Residence Principe Leopoldo across the street, has moulded into an upmarket resort, amongst Lugano's finest accomodation. More Italian than Swiss in spirit, the resort comprises a two story mediterranean Villa and a more modern residential building.
The complex features 2 heated outdoor swimming-pools (may to september), sauna, solarium, whirlpool, fitness room with a range of cardio-vascular lifecycle equipment, 2 tennis courts with synthetic grass, massage on request and for sports enthusiasts, a whole range of possibilities from horse riding to water-skiing.
Golf is the major attraction of the region, with no less than 43 golf courses in the triangle formed by Lugano-Milan-Bergamo and the hotel has arranged special playing arrangements with 5 beautiful golfs located in our neighbouring Italy (Carimate, Monticello, Varese, Golf dei Laghi, Le Robinie), 30 to 45 minutes away.
The Principe Leopoldo Restaurant, is a very refined environment with tapestry walls, very confortable chairs, lovely linens, marble floors and unobstrusive lighting. Any establishment named "Hotel of the Year" by GaultMillau must also have a "sparkling" cusine.
The "diamond" of the Villa Principe Leopoldo is Dario Ranza, who has been managing the kitchens for 12 years now.
His philosophy is striking: you can rarely avoid classic French cuisine in a 5 ***** hotel, but for him, a demanding guest wants to be treated like a King by getting what he really likes and so he tries to fulfill such whishes.

The residence very spacious rooms with over 450 sq. feet each, include a comfortable living area, bath and vanity space, terrace or patio.
The "Queen of the Ceresio" rest around a magnificient bay, guarded by Monte Brè on the East bank and Monte San Salvatore on the West bank. Facing South, Lugano is much appreciated lakeside resort, highly valued during the in-between seasons (Spring and Autumn).
The Villa Principe Leopoldo & Residence is ideally located on the "Golden Hill", an elegant residential area which dominates the town and Lake Lugano, just 3 Km from the Highway #2's (Basel/Luzern/Lugano/Chiasso/Milan) Lugano Sud Exit and 5 minutes' drive from the main railway station.

How to reach the Hotel: Leaving the highway, enter "Lugano Sud" and take direction "Lago". Stay on the left hand-side in reaching the first traffic light, turn left again, follow the direction "Ponte Tresa" and the signaling "Villa Principe Leopoldo".
The hotel offers a parking (outdoors, unsecured) , which is free of charge, or parking in the garage which is CHF 25 per day.
Restaurant reservations are mandatory, due to our restaurants almost every day fully booked.
Internet (ADSL/ WLAN)is available at the hotel, costs are CHF 10 per hour.
